The Problem

Southwest water is hard on your home

Scale on dishes and glass, film on skin and hair, chlorine taste, and trace contaminants you cannot see. Well water in the valley runs genuinely hard. The right system fixes it at the source — and we check your actual water first, we don't guess.

Scale and mineral buildup

Hard minerals clog fixtures, faucets, and appliances over time.

Dry skin and hair

Hard water strips moisture and leaves residue on skin and hair.

Spots on dishes and glass

Mineral deposits leave film and spots that do not wash off.

Bad taste and odor

Chlorine, chloramine, and dissolved solids affect taste and smell.

Appliance wear and tear

Hard water accelerates scale buildup in water heaters and dishwashers.

Constant bottled water cost

Tap water you do not trust adds up fast in bottles every week.

The Solution

Four systems for city-water homes

Whole-home protection plus better drinking water. We confirm the right fit for your home and water on a quick quote call — every system uses USA-made components.

FAQ

Common questions

What type of system do most Southwest homes need?
It depends on your water, which is why we check your actual numbers instead of guessing. For city homes we pull your water system's published data; for wells we test directly. Las Cruces city water is treated with chlorine and carries naturally occurring minerals and trace arsenic (tested below the EPA limit), so many city homes want reverse osmosis for drinking water plus softening for scale and skin comfort. Many valley homes on wells have genuinely hard water and need the full combination. After your quote call we confirm the right setup for your home.
What is the difference between a softener and a filter?
A water softener removes hardness minerals — calcium and magnesium — through a process called ion exchange. This eliminates scale buildup, spotting, and the dry skin and hair that hard water causes. A carbon filter removes chlorine, chloramine, taste, and odor from the water. Most city-water homes benefit from both in a single system.
What maintenance is required?
The primary maintenance is adding salt to the brine tank — typically every 6 to 8 weeks depending on household size and water hardness. The system regenerates automatically. The RO filters are replaced annually. Outside of salt and filter replacements, the system is self-maintaining.
What happens if the power goes out?
Our systems include a 72-hour memory backup. Your softening settings and regeneration schedule are preserved through a short power outage. Water continues to flow through the system during the outage — only the automatic regeneration cycle is paused.
Why does the system only have one tank?
Our entry-level and standard systems use a single tank that combines carbon filtration media and softening resin. This is an efficient, proven design for most city-water homes. If your household has very high water usage or you want separate dedicated tanks for each function, we offer the Dual Tank City Water System.
Will soft water make it harder to rinse soap off my skin?
Soft water feels slippery compared to hard water, which is a common adjustment. What you are actually feeling is clean skin — hard water leaves a soap scum film that people mistake for rinsed skin. With soft water, soap rinses completely and your skin retains its natural oils. Most people adapt within a week and prefer it.
What is the water line size?
Our systems connect to standard 3/4-inch or 1-inch water lines, which covers the vast majority of residential homes. If your home has a different configuration, we will identify that during the quote call and confirm compatibility before installation.
Do you install on well water?
Our city-water systems are optimized for municipal water supplies. Well water has a different mineral profile and may contain iron, sulfur, bacteria, or other contaminants that require a different treatment approach. Contact us and we can discuss what a well water solution would look like for your home.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. Qualifying systems include lifetime coverage on eligible dry and non-consumable parts, 5-year coverage on the control valve, circuit board, and media, and 1-year labor coverage on the original installation. Full warranty terms are available on our warranty page.
How is Honest Water Southwest different from national brands?
National brands typically use commissioned in-home salespeople, long sales presentations, and inflated pricing to cover their overhead. We use USA-made NSF-certified components, provide transparent pricing by phone or form, and install through approved local professionals. No in-home pressure, no mystery pricing.
